Great Escape

Our stay at Great Escape was all we had expected. The facility was clean and the view was spectacular, I would recommend it for a restful vacation.

It was such a beautiful cabin. No problems at all and we go to see a bear while standing on the back porch in the morning. But the hill up to the cabin was a little nerve wreaking so would probably choose a cabin lower down the hill.

Very nice cabin nice views . The roads are a little too steep and narrow for us . I would suggest a small vehicle or a least a 4 wheel drive. We still enjoy are stay even had a visitor come calling a black bear .

This was my third time staying at the Great Escape. We love this cabin and its location. Wears Valley provides great serenity, and the weekend was relaxing. I hope to return next spring.

The cabin needs some up dates but was nice. The only problem was the had rolling power outages and we had no heat or any way to cook and the road to the cabin is very very steep and when it snows there is no way to leave. We couldn't even check out on time due to ice they don't salt the road to the cabin. Maybe they should consider putting a gas range and gas heaters so you can stay warm. This would be a nice place to stay for summer and fall but not during the winter. If you do stay during winter make sure you have a way to start a fire. The wood they give you was damp and we had to go get logs to help start a fire. If you don't bring a way to start a fire you won't be able to. This cabin was nice except for those issues. They do not put up a tree for Christmas either they did put a 3 foot one on a table but don't think it was even that big. That was disappointing.

Had a great time! We did GSMNP, Anskeesta, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Cherokee NC, Roaring Fork MotorTrail and sampled lots of good food. We try to come as often as possible. We have never stayed in Great Escape before and it was great! The location was beautiful and quiet. We have nothing negative to say about the care and upkeep of the cabin at all and we plan to stay here on future visits. The only negative we could find was the mattresses. They were very springy so we did not sleep as well as we would have liked. Overall, Great Escape was wonderful compared to other cabins we have stayed in (from other rental companies). It is nice staying far removed from the bustle of the tourist areas, yet close enough to get to the park via the back entrance!

We came up this time for our 16th anniversary. Went to the Smoky Mountain Air Show on Saturday and had a blast. Can’t wait to be back in the beautiful Wears Valley and make our trip to Townsend to Trail Head Steak and Trout Restaurant.

It was great. The house is really clean. When is raining, the carport was an extra. We love the covered deck.

Great Escape is in a very good location off of Wears Valley Rd. It has great view of Wears Valley particularly from the back porch. The front yard is large, so you can easily walk your pet on a leash without getting in the road. One morning we saw a black bear foraging in woods across from cabin. Very exciting. The cabin was clean and the yard was well kept. This was the 2nd time to stay at this cabin in as many years. I noticed, in the time between stays, a new water heater was installed and the TV service upgraded to include more & better channels. Just like last year there was no “pet” smell. We enjoyed our stay.

The cabin was clean and had all the necessary kitchen essentials. The deck overlooking the valley is amazing.When we arrived two bears walked into the driveway. They were easy to scare away by yelling at them.

we have stayed here several times and love the location,a bear visited us everyday,I feel that the cabin needs a little updating,and the mold needs to be taken care of in bath tub on out side.We went and bought some kitchen items that we felt you needed,do people steal? is that why there is not much there for kitchen.we still love the cabin and will continue to come back there

We loved our stay at Great Escape! Our daughter and her family had stayed there several times and loved their stays. It is spacious and had everything we needed for comfort. One of us enjoyed the comfortable recliners, while the other liked watching the cloud drama from the deck. Our daughter, son-in-law and little granddaughter visited us from their RV in the valley, and we cooked meals together. Our Armada climbed the curvy and steep road with no problem, even in the rain, on several trips to the valley. Cades Cove is a must visit for us for the past 40+ years.New to us, but not to our 8-year old granddaughter, was the Pirate Show! That was the most wonderful entertainment! The dinner is so-so, but a better dinner would have distracted us from the amazing talent and creativity before us! Don't miss it! Our granddaughter was so happy and proud for us to see her beloved show with her. Our little mutt, Rio loved being outside the cabin, sniffing the air for wild animals (Our neighbors, in their mostly not visible cabin, told us that a bear had been seen near the cabins the week before our visit). One downside for us was that cats are not allowed, though we certainly understand the possibility of cat allergies. We understood Pet Friendly to include cats, so it was disappointing to leave Hasa at home. The floor could have been cleaned better, and we washed all dishes before use because of the dried on food we found (We find that problem with many dishwashers, and do not use one at home).For various reasons, I needed to make several calls to the manager prior to our visit, and what a wonderful, helpful person I spoke to every time! If only every business could learn customer service skills from this manager! We will readily go back to this cabin, and can hardly wait for the next opportunity to make the trip.

Great escape & great place. We’ve stayed in multiple cabins via Cove Mountain Realty over a 22 year period; however this is the first time with a dog. I was a little worried about smell and accommodations of a pet friendly cabin, but it was clean and smelled fresh. It has an open floor plan, which allows everyone to visit or just “be” in the same space. Good water pressure, and we never ran out of hot water. Great view off the back porch, large, fairly level front yard to let the dog play and walk around without having to get on road. It’s not fenced, so you’ll definitely want to keep pet on leash. It might take off chasing one of the many rabbits. Since we were there in early June, we enjoyed sitting in the front yard in the evenings enjoying cool breeze and watching the fireflies. After a day of sightseeing or Dollywood, it was nice to come back to such a restful location and cabin. Enjoyed Great Escape.

Cabin was well equipped and lovely. Plenty of written instructions for electronics, alarm and appliances. The cabin was in an excellent location to all activities and major attractions. The road to the cabin is well paved but it’s is winding with hairpin turns and steep incline. It’s is also very narrow and for me, it was very nerve racking and I hated each time we had to return to the cabin. Other than the drive up to the cabin , all was perfect.

We stayed 3 nights and had a great time. The cabin was clean and in a nice location. This cabin also provides lots of privacy but is only minutes from the heart of Wears Valley. Hopefully we can come back next year.

Very much enjoyed this place. Cozy and great view.

Really enjoyed one of the best cabins we've ever rented. Very well kept and enjoyed talking to the housekeeping ladies upon arrival. Only need sign for cabin along side of the road before sharp left turn to identify. Would love to stay there again.

Location is perfect, the road is steep and narrow but very doable in a regular vehicle. The home is older but clean and well laid out. The deck is where we spent most of our time, very relaxing. I will definitely rent this home again.

Nice property, even though the steep roads were challenging. Property was clean and comfortable with a nice view. I read the comments regarding the toilet and I am assuming it’s just an older septic and we did have to occasionally plunge, but it was only a minor irritant. All in all I would stay here again. Furnishings were clean and comfortable, if somewhat dated.

This was our third time staying at Great Escapes, first time in the summer and it was fantastic. See ya in the fall y’all.

We had a great vacation in the smoky mountains! It was the perfect location to jump into the smokies without going through the hustle and bustle of Gatlinburg or pigeon forge! We had a great trip exploring the mountains, shopping at the local stores and rafting on the pigeon river! We would definitely stay in the great escapes again! Location was great however the last two switchbacks on the road are a bit unnerving for the vehicle and kids!

This cabin has a homey feeling , it’s nestled in trees and the inside has an open area easily navigated one story . Everything inside is adequate and easy to use. We truly love it. It’s our second time to stay there.

Great stay. Had only one issue with a dead animal. Quickly addressed and offered move to another cabin. This was our 2nd stay at Great Escape. Still would like to see an upgrade on the TV for Saturday football.

We have rented this property at least 3 times. We love the location and the accessibility to the cabin.
I love that it is handicap accessible and all on 1 floor. The view is beautiful and no traffic is awesome. It had everything we needed while there. I love it here and will definitely be back in the future. There is only one thing I would like to say as a low negative. The television really needs to be updated as well as some decor and furniture. It does not look like much money is put in to it. However, I will always love this place. Thanks for a beautiful stay.

Over all great experience. Pros: pet friendly; quiet; full kitchen and open concept living/dinning/ kitchen; bed rooms on separate sides of cabin, 2 full bath, car port. Shopping near by for close activity. Beautiful view. Some nice restaurants near by.
Cons: for us 30 to 45 minute dive to connect with family staying in Pigeon Fordge; the drive up and down the mountain to the cabin was an adventure, very steep and curvy; pool and other amenities were not conveniently located.

It was lovely. Clean and furniture was comfortable. 2 things could be improved. 1 needs a new coffe pot. The one there doesnt drain properly. 2 could use a larger tv . Other than that it was excellent

We spent 3 nights in the great escape cabin and had a great time. The cabin is very nice and in a beautiful location with a great view.

Got off to a rocky start. Office gave great directions, but still hard to find. Opened the door and security alarm went off. Weren't give a code so a call to the office was needed. Cabin clean, comfortable and cozy. I knew the cabin accepted dogs. I don't have a dogm but do like them. The master bedroom smelled strongly of a dirty dog so we didn't use that room. Don't know how to de dog the smell in the carpet, but you could try.

Enjoyed our time at Great Escape very much. It was very relaxing and the view of the valley is beautiful. Will tell everyone what a wonderful time we had.

We had a wonderful time at the cabin. This was our second time there and was wonderful both times. Had severe storms the first night there and had no.power or water for around 20 hours. In spite of that, we had a wonderful time!!
