Fishing License Requirements
You must possess a valid fishing license or permit which is valid throughout the park, and no trout stamp is required. Fishing licenses and permits are not available in the park, but may be purchased in Wears Valley or you may purchase a license
Tennessee License Requirements
Residents and nonresidents age 13 and older must have a valid license. Residents age 65 and older may obtain a special license from the state.
Daily Possession Limits
Five (5) brook, rainbow or brown trout, small mouth bass, or a combination of these, each day or in possession, regardless of whether they are fresh, stored in an ice chest, or otherwise preserved. The combined total must not exceed five fish.

Troutfest - Troutfest is a Fly Fishing Exposition and Fundraiser held in Townsend, Tennessee in the Great Smoky Mountains. Proceeds from this event are donated to Great Smoky Mountains National Park Fisheries Department, Friends of the Smokies Fisheries Scholarship Endowment or other youth educational conservation projects. The Little River Chapter of Trout Unlimited sponsors this event as our major fundraiser and annual festival. This year the event will be one of the largest venues for fly anglers in the Southeast United States.
ChristyFest - ChristyFest is an annual festival held to celebrate the TV series Christy. Each year, cast members, directors, producers, and crew gather to renew relationships and re-experience Townsend, Tennessee. This event brings back memories of earlier settlers times; music and arts are also part of the experience. Held in June each year, dates for 2010 are June 16-20
